Firefly, an amazing, superb series
Firefly, was a science-fiction TV series, created by Josh Whedon. It was first broadcasted in Canada, and the United States in 2002, on FOX. Sadly, the series, was cancelled after only 11 episodes, despite the huge fan base. Although, the series was cancelled after 11 episodes, there were a total of 14, 3 of which were not aired. In 2003, shortly after the cancellation Whedon announced that he was writing a script for a Firefly movie, which was concieved as "Serenity". The movie hit theaters, on September 30, 2005.
Due to the sucess of the series, I decided to lend my time, and watch the series. I started watching the series, on Friday (June 16) and finished the series today. Each episode runs for a little over 40 minutes, with the first episode "Serenity"(Not to be confused with the movie) weighing in at almost 2 hours. Including the movie, and the 14 episodes, the total watch time weighs out to about 10 hours. So what kept me coming back for more? Well, there is really no one defined answer. The characters, were all likable, or at least I thought so. This is a hard thing to find in a series, there is usually one ass-hat amongst the main characters, that everyone has a loath for. Secondly, the unique blend of both futuristic elements, and elements from the past. Thirdly, I love the serious-comedic setup of the series. There is much seriousness found in Firefly, but on the otherhand there are times when I was rolling on my side with laughter.
Would I recommend, the series? Surly. I believe one-hundred precent that, anyone can enjoy Firefly. No matter, if you like or hate science-fiction. This series, is much different than any other and I can assure you that it is an enjoyable watch. The movie, is up to par with the series, so if you wanted give that a rent, it would be a good idea. Although, I have been a little vague, I cannot say enough about Firefly, and "Serenity". It has been one of the best 10 hours I have spent, in front of my TV.
