Sony; What is going on?

Today, I was reading a post over at Kotaku, and I came across this one; PS3's at Launch: North America, 400K. Japan, 100K. This is paticularly disturbing considering Sony original stated that they were going to supply two million. Apperently thats not the case. Bottom line, North America will be recieving a measly 400 000, and Japan will be recieving the dismal amount of 100 000. Not only are these figures extremly low, this is egagerated compared to Microsoft's 1.5 million world wide launch. Microsoft's Xbox 360 still experienced extremly large shortages. I cannot fathom the amount of scalping and such that will be going on with the launching of the PS3. To top off the bad unit figures, you have the delay of the European launch till March.

I honestly do not know where Sony are going to end up after the launch of the PS3. Its definitely going to be a interesting year for the console market, with the coming of the Wii and PS3. Not to mention all the good games coming to the market. One can only wait and see.
