Geometry Wars Tips

Well, I decided to post some tips, that helped me get my 1.7 million score (and rising). There are several things you can do to improve your score, and playing ability; however, to be quite honest Geometry Wars is mostly a personal struggle.

For one thing, never stop moving especially when get past the 100, 000 mark. Constantly move, and learn how to move in order to evade the enemies. You can only evade if you pay very close attention to your surrounding enemies. You must learn how the enemy moves, in ever way. Learn the speed at which they can travel, the accuracy of there movement. For instance, when you "kill" a pink enemy, the spawn 3 smaller enemies. There movement is extremly in accurate seeing, the move in a sweeping movement. However, the green enemies on the other hand are extremly accurate and fast, however, they can be easily avoided by firing at them. Seeing there extremly skittish. Do not for one second, take your mind off the game, nor your eyes.

Another, thing that most people whilst playing may overlook, are the distinct noises that the enemies make, when they spawn. Pay extremly close attention to the noises, and get familiar with all the enemies distinct sound.

Make sure to manage your bombs, and lives. Do not waste bombs on petty conflicts. Only use bombs when:

  • You have a high multiplier and bombs to spare to protect it
  • You have few lives and a bountiful supply of bombs
  • **ONLY** use bombs when you abousoutly know you will die without the aid of the bomb
The dreaded black holes, appear to be a huge disadvantage when fighting off a horde of evil shapes; however, they can help a great deal when controlled, and used in the proper manner. For instance, at some points in the game, the game locks itself into a reoccuring spawn pattern. One in which, spawns 4 black holes, one in each corner, with numerous enemies, of all different shapes. If the enemies are overwhelming you, shoot a black hole to take pressure off, for several seconds. Whilst the black hole is sucking the foes into its depths, shoot at the massive cloud of enemies. This usually is quite effective.

Sticking to the sides can be a great techinque to get through the large abundence of enemies in certain situations. Most often then not, this skill of sticking to the sides works, unless enemies spawn on you. Which can be a bitch, when your multiplier is high, or your lives are low.

This may be considered a stupid suggestion; however, I will state it anyways. When I play Geometry Wars, I listen to up beat music, not the default trance music they have in the game. While the default Geometry Music, does work well when playing, I find custom soundtracks of the players choice work far better. I like to listen to power metal while playing, which give me that upbeat feel that helps me play. This can be different for many different people. For others, slow music or something competely different may help you play better. Experiment.

Well, there you have it. Some tips that I hope will help you in your conquest to break 1 million, or whatever the score.
